Worried after possible HIV exposure?
Earlier detection with HIV Ag/Ab (4th generation) testing
After a possible HIV exposure many people wonder “When should I get tested?” or “Can HIV be detected this early?”
Today, HIV Ag/Ab (4th Generation) testing is a high-sensitivity HIV screening method that can help detect infection earlier than older testing methods. This test detects both HIV p24 Antigen and HIV Antibody in a single test.
Early HIV infection may not always cause noticeable symptoms. Testing is therefore an important step in assessing risk, reducing anxiety, and supporting early healthcare decisions.
When should you get tested?
In general, HIV 4th Generation testing can begin approximately 14–18 days after possible exposure. Testing accuracy becomes significantly higher after the recommended window period according to medical guidelines.
In some situations, repeat testing may be recommended for confirmation.
Possible HIV risk exposures
You may consider HIV testing if you have experienced:
• Unprotected sexual intercourse
• Condom breakage, leakage, or slippage
• Sexual contact with a partner of unknown HIV status
• Sharing needles or sharp objects
• Direct exposure to blood or bodily fluids
Even without symptoms, HIV testing can help provide reassurance and support better health management.
If you are concerned about possible HIV exposure, appropriate testing is an important step toward taking care of your health and making informed decisions early.

F.A.Q.
How soon after exposure should I get tested?
It depends on the infection. For most bacterial STIs (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea), we recommend testing 7–14 days after potential exposure. For HIV and Syphilis, it’s best to wait 2 to 4 weeks. If you have symptoms, we recommend coming in as soon as possible.
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome. However, during peak hours there may be a short wait. Booking an appointment in advanced is recommended for faster service, especially if you need multiple tests.
Does the test hurt? What is the procedure?
Most tests involve a simple blood draw from the arm or a PCR swab (for women: vaginal swab, for men: urethral swab, performed by the patient). The blood draw procedure is quick and done by experienced professionals.
Are the tests confidential?
Yes. All your test results and personal information are kept strictly confidential. We follow strict privacy regulations and do not share your information with anyone without your consent.
How long does it take to get results?
-
Rapid tests (e.g. HIV, Syphilis): Same day or within 30–60 minutes
-
PCR tests (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, etc.): Usually 1–3 days
-
Comprehensive panels: 2–4 days depending on the tests required
